Awnings & Pergolas

Zip awning guide for the Costa del Sol

A zip awning keeps the fabric locked in side channels, so it stays tauter and more wind-stable than a conventional drop awning — ideal for west-facing terraces and pergola sides on the Costa del Sol.

Zip awning side enclosure on a Costa del Sol terrace

Key points

  • Zip guides = better wind behaviour and side seal.
  • Screen fabrics cut heat while keeping a view.
  • Pair with bioclimatic pergolas for four-season use.
  • Product page: zip awning.

How a zip system differs

The fabric edge runs in a zipper track inside aluminium guides. That reduces flapping and improves lateral sealing versus free-hanging cloth — important with coastal gusts.

When to choose zip

  • Pergola side closures for summer shade and light rain protection.
  • Large glazed fronts that need solar control without losing the view.
  • Hospitality terraces that open fully for service and close for wind.

Frequently asked questions

Can I still see out?

With micro-perforated screen fabric, yes — density varies by product. We show samples on site.

Do I need a wind sensor?

On exposed terraces we recommend it so the system retracts in strong gusts.
